I am Lorie Axtell the photographer and operator of Crowtree Studio. Living in Mackinaw City, Mi. but am available for travel throughout most of the state. Specializing in location or studio, traditional, contemporary and artistic styles, I have a large sample of my work for viewing on this site.

I photograph seniors, families, infants and children, commercial, vacation, reunions, events, weddings, pets, model portfolios and acting head shots.

Hi, I am Lorie Axtell and this is Crowtree Studio. Photography caught me in college where I learned the elements of black and white film shooting, processing and developing. I went to San Francisco Art Institute and was deeply influenced by the fine art photographers in the area. I took workshops from Fred Picker in Maine and several working photographers in Santa Fe over the years. Seven years I spent in retail sales of equipment and 23 years in portrait studio management and administration. Opening my own business and leading my vision has been a dream for some time.

Living in the Straits of Mackinac I enjoy photographing the natural rugged beauty of this area but my interest and passion is portraiture. I think that each individual needs to be photographed in the good way they see themselves. Having an image that captures the true feel and spirit of the person in front of the lens is my quest. I hope to offer that to each client. Along with the wonderful emotions and memories that photography endures throughout the years. I look forward to working with you in any photographic capacity.
